Sample PMP application spreadsheet - v3

Finally,

Here's the 3rd cut of the PMP application spreadsheet. Thanks to everybody who took a moment to share feedback.

Sample PMP Application Version 3

***For people having difficulty downloading from Rapidshare, I have hidden the .xls file in the following image file (cause blogger does not support uploading of any other file types).

Download this image file and open it with WinRar (download an evaluation version of winrar from here: www.rarlabs.com)***

Updates and fixes:
More columns for people who have a lot of project experience to fill in. ;)
Computes project experience just like the online PMI form: unique, non-overlapping months only.
Has similar interface but with a little more validation, etc.
Inserted the excel sheet into both the image files. The excel spreadsheet can now be extracted from images above. Just download to your system and open with winrar.

I do appreciate any comments or feedback. This spreadsheet is free to use and distribute, but please do provide credits where due. I'd like to thank the gurus Colin Legg and Barry Houdini for helping me with some tricky formulas.

Cheers!

impossible to download your sheet from Rapidshare.

I just tested it and it still works - I was able to download the excel sheet. Try again. If you have filters that block Rapidshare, try from another network/PC.

Let me know how it went...

In PMP application form, at the end of each project hours distribution section there is a requirement: "In the space provided below, please summarize the project management tasks that you managed for this project."
I have certain difficulty to understand what exactly should be sepcified here as, I believe, all management tasks were already mentioned in hours distribution section. Can smbd provide just a sample for this section?

Thanks and best regards
Igor

Hello Igor,

The summary section of the application requires that you submit a brief description of the project and your contribution in it. Eg:
"Revenue per Call (RPC) from out of warranty support to HP Consumer customers. The Out of Warranty
team were managing an average RPC of $5.51.
The primary goal of the project was to show sustained increase in RPC while maintaining Quality
standards.
The project used Six Sigma's DMAIC methodology and required that the project lead be Green Belt
certified.
The project was kicked-off after the Black Belt's approval. During closure, the team was doing..."

You would have to do this for each of your project submissions. If you have the Project Charter handy, the task would be much easier.

its max 500 chars so you can't write all that stuff in there.

@Vash: thank you for your comments.
@Anonymous: You don't have to make copious documentation of your projects while documenting your experience. The key thing is to touch upon the highlights while maintaining brevity.

Great tool - I appreciate it very much! Is it possible to unprotect the worksheet so as to add more columns? The doc is password protected and I need to enter more projects than what it is setup for. Thanks.

Rex - excellent tool - I really like it! Is there a version that has more columns on it? I have more projects to enter but am out of columns and the doc is locked down so I can't add any more.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, guys. I'm going to post an unprotected sheet in a few hours. Please bear with me...

Your the man Rex! This really is the best spreadsheet I have found online for organizing the project data before entering it on the website.

I really appreciate you adding the extra columns for those of us with several smaller projects to enter.

Thanks again!

The only thing I noticed on the new version as I am using it is that the cells on the lower half of the page on Column B are locked down down so you can't click on them to read the rest of the description anymore.

Because the descriptions are cut off by Column C it would be nice if either the text could wrap to make each row higher or if you could click on each cell to read the descriptions as before.

Certainly not a really big deal either way. Thanks again for the great tool.

Dear Rex

Am not able to download the sheet from Rapidshare because the internet provider does not allow to do so. Is it possible for you to email it to be "v.bharathkumar1@gmail.com". This would help me greatly. Thanks.

Bharathkumar,

Instead of sending you the file in an email (and then having to do it for everyone who might have this issue) I have gone ahead and included the file in the image files of this posting. Download the .jpg file to your desktop and open it with WinRar (does not work with winzip, sorry). Hope this helped.

Cheers and all the best!
